Information MellowCloud handles
MellowCloud handles only the information needed for the features you choose to use:
- Check-ins: mood level (mapped to Apple Health’s State of Mind), whether it describes a moment or the whole day, the feelings and life areas you pick, notes, and the time of the entry.
- ColorWalks: the color you chose, start and end time, distance walked, location coordinates of your route, photos you take or pick during the walk, and your notes.
- Preferences: language, appearance, app icon, widget theme, haptics, daily reminder on/off and time, and whether you have seen the welcome screens.
- Widget data: to show recent check-ins and walks on your Home Screen, the app writes a summary of them to a shared container (App Group) that only MellowCloud and its widgets can read.
- Purchase information: App Store products, transactions, subscription status, expiration and offer eligibility, used to unlock or restore Pro. We never receive your full payment details or Apple Account password.
- Support information: what you choose to send when contacting us, such as your email address, app and iOS versions, screenshots, and a description of the problem.
MellowCloud has no account system, runs no developer server that stores your data, and includes no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. The mascot animation (Rive) and the “My Other Apps” list run on device and do not upload your data.
How information is used
- To save, show, edit and delete your check-ins and walks, and to build trends, calendars and walk cards.
- To measure distance, draw your route and collect photos into a card you can save during a walk.
- When you turn them on, to write check-ins to Apple Health and send a daily reminder at the time you set.
- When you turn on iCloud Sync, to keep records the same across devices signed in to your Apple Account.
- To show recent records in widgets.
- To load App Store products, complete and restore purchases, and determine Pro access.
- To answer support requests and investigate problems you report.
We do not use your records for profiling, advertising or developer-side analytics.
Device permissions
Each permission is requested only when you use the related feature, and you can change it any time in iOS Settings.
Location
Used only after you start a ColorWalk, to measure distance and record your route. So the walk keeps recording while the screen is locked or you switch apps, location updates continue in the background during an active walk (iOS shows a location indicator) and stop as soon as the walk ends. We do not access your location outside a walk.
Camera and photos
The camera is used to capture the colors you find on a walk. You can also pick photos with the system photo picker; the app receives only the photos you select. To save a walk card, the app asks only for permission to add photos and never reads your library.
Apple Health
When enabled, MellowCloud only writes your check-ins to Apple Health as State of Mind. It does not read any data from the Health app. Editing or deleting a check-in updates or removes the matching Health entry.
Notifications
Used for the daily check-in reminder you turn on. Reminders are scheduled on your device and never pass through our servers.
iCloud
Used only when you have Pro and choose to turn on iCloud Sync.
Storage and sharing
- On your device: check-ins, walks, photos and preferences are stored on your iPhone or iPad by default.
- In your private iCloud database: with sync on, check-ins and walks (including routes and photos) are stored in your own private iCloud database through Apple CloudKit. Only your devices signed in to the same Apple Account can access them; the developer cannot.
- Apple Health: State of Mind data you write is managed by the Health app and protected by Apple’s health data safeguards.
- Apple: App Store purchases, subscriptions, iCloud storage and map display are handled by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Support email: handled by your and our email providers. Please don’t send passwords, verification codes or full payment details.
We do not sell personal information or give your records to advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information only when required by law or to protect rights and safety.
Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays until you delete a record, choose “Delete All Data” in Settings → Data, or remove the app.
- With iCloud Sync on, deletions sync to your other devices and the iCloud copy is removed too.
- Turning sync off by itself does not delete data already in iCloud. To remove it completely, delete the data first, or manage the app’s storage in iOS Settings → Apple Account → iCloud.
- Entries written to Apple Health can also be reviewed and deleted in the Health app.
- Walk cards saved to your library belong to your Photos and are deleted in the Photos app.
- Apple keeps App Store transaction records under its own rules. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you and meet legal obligations.
Security
Your data is protected by iOS Data Protection, the app sandbox, and iCloud’s encrypted transfer and storage, and we process only what the features need. Please use a device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and keep iOS up to date. No storage or transfer method is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
- View, edit or delete any check-in or walk at any time.
- Choose whether to turn on Apple Health, reminders and iCloud Sync, and whether to allow location, camera and photos access.
- Change or revoke permissions in iOS Settings; related features may stop working but others are unaffected.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions and request refunds through Apple.
- Contact us to ask about or delete information you sent us by email, or to exercise other rights under applicable law.
Children’s privacy
MellowCloud is for a general audience and is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Minors should use the app with a guardian’s guidance. If you believe a child sent us information through support, please contact us.
Not medical advice
MellowCloud is a tool for recording moods and self-reflection. It does not provide medical care, counseling, diagnosis, treatment or crisis intervention. If you are in danger or thinking about harming yourself or others, contact your local emergency number, a crisis line or a medical professional right away.
International processing
Apple and email providers may process information outside your country or region under their own policies and applicable safeguards. Because MellowCloud runs no developer account or data servers, your records are not transferred to servers we control.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when features, laws or platform requirements change. The current version and effective date are posted on this page, and material changes will be communicated in the app or another reasonable way.
